Article I, Section 8
Abraham Lincoln: The Great Emancipator or the Great Centralizer?

The United States has always celebrated Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president. We used to celebrate his birthday on February 12th of each year. On June 28, 1968 a bill was signed into law combining the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln into one holiday: President's Day, which is celebrated on the 3rd Monday of February each year.

Should we be celebrating the presidency of Abraham Lincoln? I think not.

"History is Written By Victors" -- incorrectly attributed to Winston Churchill

Much of what we learned in school about Abraham Lincoln is just a fabrication. The book, The Real Lincoln by Thomas J. DiLorenzo attempts to set the record straight about the 16th president. The forward to the book, written by Walter E. Williams (March 31, 1936 December 2, 2020) can be found here: The Real Lincoln Forward.

Believe it or not, there have been a number of mock trials of Abraham Lincoln. During these trials, Lincoln was put on trial for usurping his power by:

  • Suspending Habeas Corpus.
  • Unconstitutionally declaring martial law.
  • Trying civilians in military court.
  • Overstepping his power.
  • Violating his duty to protect property.

In addition to these charges made in mock trials, he made many other unconstitutional moves during the War of Northern Aggression:

  • Incorporated Income Tax to pay for the war (direct taxes are unconstitutional).
  • Printed fiat money (greenbacks) See: What's In Your Pocket (only gold and silver is money).
  • Quartered Union troops in homes of Southerners (3rd Amendment violation) .
  • Taking command of the military without the consent of Congress (Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution)..
  • Allowing Congress to bar representatives from the Southern States from sitting and voting in Congress (the real reason the South ceded from the Union).
